Thumbs down Making the move to an EBC, a few questions

Hey guys, I am tired of constantly popping the hood to set my Boost etc........... I was looking at buying the Greddy Profec B Electronic Boost controller from KIX, I have a few questions

1) How hard is it to set the PSI level desired? to I simply set a PSI level, or is done by %'s etc.
2) Will this help at all with Boost Spiking? Somtimes my car spikes, sometimes it does'nt maybe its my TuroXs manual Boost controller?
3) can I set like a low PSI of 8, than buy a simple push of a buttong go to 12PSI? or is it one set PSI??

As always thanks guys

1. It's set by %
2. Yes it will assuming you get it tuned correctly
3. You technically have 3 boost settings. Off - which will just use the wastegate spring, low - you set, and high - you set.

They are sometimes a little bit of a PITA to tune correctly (and dangerous as you have to do WOT runs in 3rd+ gear) but once you get it to where you want it, it's nice

thanks what % do you initially set? like lets say 50% and thats at 6psi and you want 12psi so you increase it to 100% etc and see what it does ????????

when you say Tuned correctly do you me an installed correctly or my actual Tune programmed on my E-manage?

you guys think its worth it? I would love to be able to have off, low and high and not have to work about temperature changes that cause me to be 1-2psi off what I set yesterday, so yeah I guess its worth it

I dont get it, sometimes it doesnt spike but just a tad. The tube that goes from the MBC to the wastegate comes to like a 45 degree angle off the nipple, almost like the tube it too short so its being slightly stretched, I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

There are warnings and other things on the profec that you can setup for overboosting. You have 3 push of the button settings but you can turn the knob all the way up to 100% at any time, giving you whatever psi level you want, granted you are tuned for it. Fos some weirt reason I have a 8psi wastegate spring and my profec is set at 64% for a 21psi setting. They are all different.

50% isn't 50% more of your base value, to be honest I'm not really sure it correlates to. I would just set a percentage and see what my max boost was and work my way up till I got it where I want it.

When I say tune, I mean tuning the actual boost controller as there are 3 settings you'll be adjusting: gain, set, and set gain

Once you have it set to where you want the %, it will work perfect.
To give me a ballpark figure of what % i should be running i called Mitch at Greddy 949 588 8300
I gave him my specs of my setup and told him what power and psi i was running, and he gave me a number to start from.
To FINE tune the parameters you'll need to go out on the highway and do some pulls and keep playing with your gain, set, and set gain. (I'm sure you wont have a problem doing that lol)
I would setup the alarm on it aswell
Love my Profec B btw
