So from this posting i take it that your going to keep you gears? The only thing keeping me from doing it is that i do alot of highway miles.

I have about the same spool with my 60-1 and do you break your tires loose in 1st?

Unless I get the bug to start launching the car, the gears will stay

My milage (when I was NA) dropped from ~22mpg(stock) to around ~20mpg(4.57). That 2mpg could have been caused by my right foot being heavier with the gears. Highway usage isn't an excuse

I've completly broken traction as high as 3rd (but it was in winter with crappy tires). WOT in first will yeild some tire spin, hard shift to second same deal, hard shift to third not really.

with stock s-02's and warm weather i dont break traction at all. If i brake boost in 1st (which i have never really done) they will, but thats really a mute point... I'm guessing my 9lb flywheel doesn't help with breaking the tires inbetween gears either...

Hmmm, maybe i might get some 4.44's or 4.56's as the next mod... Lets see how the retune with 3inch DP and exhaust goes...

so you would definitely recommend gears if you could do everything over again?

My car should be up and running by the first week of november, i would love to do a few runs and see how i fair....

Spec with your power levels you should be in the 11's...I've seen too many 390whp-400whp turbo S2Ks run 12.2 or under, and you're making more power than that. Ditch the 18s for the track, run your stock 16s in drag radials, you'll hit 11s no prob.

It's going to be tough getting traction with something like 4.77 and 400+ hp.

more power, the taller the gear. the calculation is that simple. use the torque to your advantage, stay in the meat longer, and less shifts. why do you think some of the fastest supras and other drag cars go with powerglides, only 2 gears. less shifting, and the car has the torque to move.
i agree with chefJ, more HP, taller gear. id say in the 3.7 range would be nice. car would move further per gear, and be able to go close to 200 mph. thatd be nice.
