Default Maximum safe effective compression ratio

Does anyone Know what the maximum efective compression ratio on pump gas is? I've done some searching and found at least one person running 20+...
Ive read elsewhere 18-19...

so here are the questions....

1) What is everyone running?

2) Id imagine that you could run higher effective compression on a supercharger set up than a turbo (supercharger spending less time at max boost..) confirm / deny please...

My plan is to boost to around 14psi....for now... I have a head...soon to be installed once i figure out the gasket thickness (leaning toward stock thickness) that is at 10.5 to 1

Thanks in advance...

I think you mean mximum safe effective BOOST level. If anyone ran a 20 compression ratio on this car, the engine would explode I'd imagine

That said, ALTHOUGH they are many factors (slim I know you'll post with the delta pressure from in and out of the engine!) rule of thumb is probably 20psi is pushing it with a 3mm headgasket.

On stock compression, 10psi is your line where reliability can be questioned (although some run 14psi stock but I wouldn't trust it).

Actually I do mean effective compression ratio.

check this link out describes it pretty good.

http://hondaswap.com/turbo-information/sta...pression-29102/

Also try doing a search for "effective compression ratio" here as well there are some good equations for it.

Now I know that limiting detonation has a lot to do with high boost levels but im sure there is a ceiling somwhere of what people are running...

any takers?

Find a very good tuner.
Probability is one thing actuality is another.
We can all sit here and say I wouldn't this, or it could that, blah blah.

I'll be running a total effective compression of around 19-20:1 with around 17 to 18 psi on my 3mm HG and 8.8:1 compression engine. It will be just fine on pump gas this way if you have a very good tuner.

I'll be running probably 20psi soon on 2mm headgasket

But on C16

I'll be running 12PSI on my S/C on stock head gasket soon.

In that case, I'm running a 23.13 effetive compression ratio safely
