Measuring EGT on turbo application
I have a Defi EGT "partially" installed on my S2000. I say partially because the turbo manifold has been tapped and the sensor attached, but the sensor is not hooked up to the gauge at this time. The sensor is hooked up to the #4 runner. Anyways, I was talking to a guy at work last week and he told me that only having one EGT sensor was useless. He stated that, if you want to properly monitor EGTs, that a sensor needs to be installed in each runner as they can all operate a varying temperatures.
What do you all think?

He is wrong and he is also right.
For tuning and watching for detination putting the sensor in one of the runners is fine. Unless he is able to tune each injector separately!
But temps CAN be different in different cylinders...eg a lean injector.
I had one and mounted it at the collector point where the four runners merged. But I know lots of guys who like to have theirs in a particular runner because it is the one most likely to go lean. Given the fuel rail geometry in the S2K I'm not sure any particular runner makes sense, though. (Fuel line connects at the center of the rail iirc)

You are pretty much just looking for extreme heat. Mine is tapped in number 4 which is the one that runs the hottest. Inline pro manifold so I won't have any cracking issues.
Tapping all 4 would be both a pain and alot of wires and sensors and gauges and just stupid IMHO.

This guy at my work has an old Galaxy with a monster V8 in it. He is going to run a sensor in each of his eight runners. Apparently he will be purchasing a race pack, which will allow all of the sensors to be ran into it.

Mine is tapped in right after the turbo so I can get consistent readings from all cylinders. I have an A/F gauge so I dont need EGT to monitor rich / lean conditions, I just have it to see how hot the turbo is running.

I thought it was best to have it tapped into the runner of the Hottest running cylinder,
the f20c may not have one that runs hotter than the rest.....
