^ Exactly, It was tuned to only run with the METH spraying.

I don't know what I am going to do.....I want

Low Boost Tune
High Boost Tune

METH Tune on high boost

Or I may just do a little bit of water injection to help supress detonation

ya gotta remeber though, the AEM did tell me that something was wrong, so in all fairness the system worked

I really would love to hit 600RWHP, I think METH is the only way I will get close, but I am not afraid to use, Jeff (Minitoyota is going to install it) and it will have a failsafe so if it does stop, it will go into the NON METH tune

But the important question is was your car tuned to the point where the meth was needed to keep your engine running safely? or was it just added as a piece of mind since you turbod a engine that wasnt intended to be boosted? if it fails and you are just using it for added safety then no big deal but if you rely on that meth to make big power and it fails then you are screwed.
yea this is the info I'm curious about. Actually when I will really care most about the meth is on the track and I will be on low boost then. Can you specify when you want to use it and when you don't?

the Meth is not going to help you at all on the track, the EGTS's will be lower but the OIL is going to be the problem

oh I thought it would help the oil temps I guess that makes more sense cause I was wondering how it would cool the oil when I looked at the diagram off the aem site. hmmm

yeah its not going to help with oil temps at all. it will be nice to have since you have a 3mm headgasket and you get hot spots since the piston is high compression so the gasket may last longer but the oil temps will be your biggest issue. as people said in your other thread, oil cooler with a thermostat will be the only solution for that.

dude you can absolutely do this with the aem.

the whole map will be tuned, so u just flip one switch and you can control the wastegate via the electronic boost controller wired to the aem and go from low/high boost. its the same map, just different parts of it.

then you can have another switch that grounds and kicks on the nitrous map for more timing at the high boost number. u would have to ask how to run even more boost on the meth map, but i think that can be done too. not positive on this though, so at the least you can have three setups, but i think even four.

This 300zx runs a single turbo, no intercooler. Meth injection provides all the charge cooling.

A pressure sensor on the sprayer line is good insurance that everything is running right.

Actually water/meth injection does in fact reduce your oil temps - but not enough to make the car track worthy - so yes an oil cooler is much more efffective.

Water/meth cools your intake air charge (mine drops 70 degrees F) but that is the least beneficial thing it does. The real value is when the water is converted to steam during combustion - it pulls lots of heat out in the process, latent heat of evaporation. This causes your EGTs to drop - mine are a full 200F lower with water/meth on. That's why you will see an oil temp drop, but again not enough to replace a proper oil cooler.

Water is the main component due to its 2260 kJ/kg evap number. Methanol is there to prevent the water from freezing and also bumps your octane up. I use denatured alcohol with the water instead of methanol since methanol is toxic and more corrosive as well.
