Default Mishimoto Thermostat

Just doing some cooling mods. Curious to see if anyone here is running an aftermarket thermostat such as the mishimoto. I think the spoon and mugen thermostats are outrageously priced. Any of you guys running a mishimoto thermostat? Results? Reliable?

Stick with the factory, there is no reason to change and they are a PITA to do.

I put a factory stat in when I did mine what I am getting as is there there is no reason to run anything but the factory. It already comes equipt with a 190F stat which is perfect. Get too cool and combustion suffers when you are not getting on it.

Yes, it was a PITA to change it. It DID keep my engine temp lower, however it also threw the CEL code. I'm not sure what temp the Mishimoto thermostat starts to work compared to the Mugen and Spoon thermostats. So the trade-off u have to deal with is having a cooler engine and having the annoying CEL on vs. Being stock and running a warmer engine. I was so annoyed with the CEL that I put the stock thermostat back on.

AEM EMS doesn't throw CEL so that wont be an issue.

The s2000 engine seems to run significantly hotter than other hondas I have had in the past thats why I was considering the lower temperature thermostat.

That's good to know about the AEM EMS not throwing a CEL so when I'm ready to go FI, it shouldnt be a problem.

Stock.

Your new rad, dual slim fans will go along way. Besides, with the AEM, you can set the fans to come on sooner/etc if you want it to run cooler. 190 is fine imo.
