Mixing regular and race gas...
The gas stations in So Cal mainly sell 91 octane gas. A custom fabrication shop that I have been using lately suggested that I start mixing regular gas with race gas, both as a means to reduce the chances of detonation and to extract a bit more power. So, I would like to hear what you experienced, boosted folks think about this? Would it be worth the extra money to start mixing race gas with regular gas? If so, at what mixture?

i've been mixing 110 leaded and 91 unleaded for the last six months. a 50/50 mixture. the car feels like it runs alot better and i can feel the added power from the higher octane gas. i haven't had any problems to date.

hehe...C16 it and boost that beotch to 30psi! If it's not your daily driver then why not? You can buy a half barrel and put it in your garage...it'll provide some peace of mind in situations where creep can occur and should last a long time if you're not driving her every day. If it's your daily driver then I wouldn't do it unless you've got $$$$ to burn cuz it'll be pricey.

From the impressions I get from local tuners, it works better than any off the shelf octane-boosters. You may reduce the life of your catalytic converter - then again, no probs if you have a test pipe. If that's a concern, there's always unleaded race fuel such as the streetblaze range.

Thanks for your comments thus far! Here are my responses:
1. My S2000 is not my daily driver. I drive it maybe once or twice a week and average maybe 200 miles/month (unless I am driving to LA--add another 250 miles round-trip).
2. I don't have a CAT--I have a test pipe.
My S is currently tuned for 91 octane. If I start mixing 100 octane should I get a new tune or will I be fine on my current tune? I believe that, with higher octane gas and a new tune, I could run more timing. Correct?

Why not just add a water/methanol injection system? With the proper tuning you can make a lot more safe power. If you are not familiar with water injection pay a visit to this forum:

There is a lot of good information there.
