Thumbs up Motec?

Can anyone shed some light on the motec 400? like how much it costs? how does it stack up against the competitors? does it still use OBD II? (i wanna still pass emissions) How easy is it to tune? and the typical pros and cons...

TIA

Mike

Depending what options u get, it'll probably be anywhere from 2000-3000 dollars.

Its among the best out of any standalone engine management system.

It does not use obd2.

Its fairly straight forward to tune if you know what you're doing.

Pros: its more solid/better features/ better quality hardware/software than the aem ems.

cons: costs more

Motec makes some of the best equipment out there and is well worth the cost IF you are going to use the ECU for everything its worth. The M400 is capable of dozens of features that and AEM cannot perform (hence the price difference) however if you arent going to use any advanced features that the AEM is not capable of your wasting your money. If you buy a motec plan on spending anywhere between 2-5k in install and setup (even more depending on your goals).

What are your plans for the car, what do you want out of an ecu? passing emissions with any stand alone is out of the question however a plug and play setup is easy and the factory computer can be plugged back in for the day of your inspection.

yes the motec works for the 07.

And as for my plans I wanted to go the turbo route with the s2000.

I wanted 3d mapping
soft rev limiter
3D boost control
traction control system and etc.

these are just a few of the qualities im looking for.

Will switching the ECU back throw a CEL light and cause me to fail emissions?

regardless of what you go with your going to have to find a way to switch back to the stock ecu and pass the obd II tests.... or find another way to get a sticker.

sounds like you would make decent use of an M400 especially if its an 07 motecs dbw control works well in my limited experience with dbw

The AEM has all that. Why would you want to spend $2000 more for something you don't need?

Cuz he got DBW and $$$

Plus Motec m400 will hook up to anything as long as its 1-4cyl or 2 rotor.
Re-sell value on these ecu are high..

One of the major feature i want to see is DBW Anti-lag and Mis-fire Anti-lag.
