Default Motor mount

Just found out that the passenger mount is shot.
Could maybe the heat from the turbo have anything to do with wear?
The drivers side is in perfect condition
The car does have the original mounts since 02. However, the car only gets driven in the summer months and only on the weekends.
I have the InlinePro turbo.

Yep. I had my shop fab up a heat shield after OGPackin told me to watch out for this. The hot side of the turbo sits right over the top of that thing.

Does your shop have one more heat shield?

I thought it was because of the way the engine torques. The side that lifts (pass side I believe) is the side that damages.

Makes sense if the passenger side lifts + turbo heat, that it would come apart.

Check to see which way the engine torques, with the hood open give it some throttle in 1st gear with the E Brake on. Just lightly to see which way the engine shifts.

if your looking at the car, the engine twists counter-clockwise (aka towards the passenger side). I filmed a video of the engine while revving and you can clearly see it twisting in that direction.

I had to replace mine also. I just wrapped it with some DEI heat shield(the silver reflective/sticky kind). I'm thinking it should help the matter.

thanks for the link
Now, let me ask you a stupid question. Did you have to pull the turbo out to get to the nut that is sitting right below the turbo?

Don't wanna have to pull the turbo once again but I probably know the answer is I will have to

i dunno how good of an idea this is, but i have heard of people using an engine torque damper after that motor mount throws in the towel. i would also like to know if you can get to that upper mount bolt without taking off the turbo, because i just got the inline kit and mine will most likely go also. although i do have some headshield tape around . . .

unfortunately the piping sits in the way of the dampener.
I'm sure a custom made dampener can be made and installed somewhere but as far as the one NRG sells, can't be installed because of this.
