Move from low altitude to high altitude
.....this doesn't work for turbo. that works for S/C etc. FI but turbo's will just spool harder to make the same pressure. I'm not very familiar wit the centrifugal super charger setup and how they regulate boost. For all other SC systems this info is true. I'm making the assumption it is for centrifugal as well as they lack a waste gate and have a direct crank drive system.
of course ....when ur off the boost it'll be slower of course, and the lag will be increased to the turbo as the natual compression is lowered at the same rates ur math works to.
I guess my point is that FI motors dont do better in altitude as turbo motors do because we rely on a wastegate spring which is consistent regardless of altitude.
I can tell you i feel NO change from 0-5000ft. Other then some off boost and some extra turbo lag. However my friends with the CT and Vortech feel the pain of the altitude.
FOR ur question.... ur the aem ems like me... plug ur laptop in and check your knock sensors if you want to see with your own eyes. The best way to determine it quickly by bench is in hp output estimations. Not sure what u payed for that 5 gallons, never played with the stuff, but i know i can purchase 110 octane leaded fuel at the pump for $5.50 a gallon 2 weeeks ago down the street, probably expect a recent gas price drop.

You do NOT want to tune for max power and let the knock sensors take care of the rest. That may produce a marginally higher dyno number, but WILL result in the death of the engine. The AEM knock ability is not nearly as advanced as that of most stock ECU's. One big knock from stupid tuning and bad gas can toast you engine. Tune with whatever gas you will be using on the street. If done properly, there should be a safety margin between your tuning and the knock threshold of the engine. When bad gas is used, that threshold should narrow. If it disappears, that's why the knock sensors are there. They are NOT designed to retard timing every time you boost.
