I would get a membership to the forum first.

Then I would get a SC like the new vortech kit or SOS.
A turbo will produce much more power and make it quicker. By the tone of your post you may be new to FI, so get a good installer and a good SC kit. You really can't do a turbo for 6k unless you can do all the work yourself and know the car inside and out. You can't make any mistakes. Keep reading posts good luck.

Ummmm... Greddy kits go for somewhere between 3K to 4K and it meets all of his needs.

im canadian, lol. i was born in michigan btw. i know a guy with a turbo civic and he says he has to idle for 2 minuites before he sets off for the turbo to spool up and let it idle for 2 minuites before turning it off. the reason is that when he shuts it off the turbo will still be spinning but not recieving any oil and the oil that sits there will get thick and hot and i forget what happens next but it wasnt good. im not looking for a power goal, maybe 300whp, i want to rip around town with more power down low and a much smoother powerband which is another reason why i chose a s/c. thanks for the info and ill check out these forums on the daily and do more research. one question about the 3mm head gasket, is it thicker or thinner than stock cause i would still like 11.5-1 c/r.
You friends a dingus... Sorry but he is.

You should let ANY car warm up before you push the car, has nothing to do with the turbo unless it's an ebay special. As for idling for a couple of minutes before shutdown that is only necessary if you just did a run at WOT (wide open throttle) so the turbo can cool down. Under normal driving conditions you don't need to do that.

Yep & Yep.

You buy your 300whp s/c setup, and I'll run you with my turbo @ 300whp and eat your family.

Seriously though, good luck w/the setup. Keep us updated.

Couldn't agree more, all things being equal (weight, gear ratio, driver ability) a turbo will always own a supercharger at the same power level.

is that because a turbo makes that power sooner? wouldnt a positive displacement beat a turbo?

so does this mean that if im running the same psi on a turbo and a s/c the turbo will be faster and both will cause the engine the same ammount of risk or will a turbo be more harsh on the engine?

if you're racing in short bursts from 1k- 4k rpms or short track, maybe. The Greddy kit has a small turbo that spools quickly too, comparable to a positive displacement SC.
