Brian,

We should all get together on Friday after you get your car done. Hopefully you get some good results on the dyno.
Ok...I'll text you when we get nearly finished.

Brian

Well the car is still at King getting a ton of exhaust work done. The whole system from the turbo back needed to be redone. All of the Vbands were mild steel and didn't seal properly. The downpipe rested on the motor mount and the dump tubes were smashed up against the oil filter. I had to use a tiny oil filter so that everything would fit. It is all being redone so that there is no rubbing issues or leaky joints. Its now 3" all the way to the y pipe at the mufflers.

I really cant believe how some of the stuff was welded and how poorly things fit. I thought the quality of the kit would have been better but I'm also not surprised. Also the intercooler pipes rub on some of the frame work but for now its not a big deal. I will worry about those things later. The car will be getting tuned next week but I'm not expecting any fantastic results with my current clutch.

Until then.......

Definitely not a bolt on and go system. Good luck with the rest of the tuning and install. Makes me glad I picked Mase.

Same thing here. We had to have a whole exhaust system custom built.

No AN fittings included with the "kit" and really nothing goes together very well except for the manifold.

They've had to have the turbo on and off about a dozen times trying to get stuff to fit. It's going to be thousands of dollars in custom install and fitting before it's all said and done.

But we needed a twin scroll for early spool up. When we bought the kit, the shop kept assuring us that the kit was "pretty easy to install" and that things didn't need relocating. They do.

There are also no instructions included or online for the "kit."

Ours will hopefully be done next week. We'll see the dyno plot to see if it was worth it. For a track car, we needed the cooling of E85 and the early spool of the twin scroll. For a daily driver, the MASE kit would be the way to go, I think.

We had things on and off alot also to see how things would fit. On my car the manifold actually hit the shock tower so we had to message that area so that it would fit. Not what I would call bolt on either.

After thousands of extra dollars on top of this kit it really isnt worth it. If I were to do it all over again I would have just got the manifold from them (maybe) and then just had King do all of the exhaust work. It would have been cheaper and done right the first time.

My opinion is pretty much identical to 518135's. However, almost all of the "kits" people sell need fab work to make things work. At first we liked the AFI because of twin scroll and especially this kit because the heat shield and wrap were already done for us. In my eyes, its still a good deal even though hes spending a small fortune redoing the exhaust.

Well.. I got the car back today from King. The exhaust is all done and is perfect. No longer does it hit the side of the car or rest on the motor mount. Plus the dump tubes actually extend past the oil pan. Before the were blowing right at the side of the motor and I could get a decent filter on it. There are no rattles or leaks since all of the vbands seal now because they are the proper ones. The car is getting tuned next week so I want have any dyno numbers until then. I do have pics of the exhaust though.....

wow, you little posting whore. You have double posted some pictures as well. King did a great job. AFI really screwed the pooch big time on the exhaust, but as you said, what can you expect from a 6,000 dollar kit?!?!
