Just wanted to clear up my car throwing CEL's issues. It had nothing to do with the turbo, and it was just a dead airpump.

Billman did my repair, and he told me sometimes, these things just go. Here is his explanation...

The prop blade in the airpump is made of plastic (on the 00-03, I'm not sure about the 04+). If that blade touches the sides, it melts, jams up the pump, and as a result it seizes. When it tries to turn on, it just blows the fuse, causing the CEL. Billman replaced the airpump with a new one from an AP2, and all the issues are gone.

i hate boost creep with a passion!
any chances to upgade the flapper on the wastegate for a bigger one and porting out the housing?
good numbers, but i like steady boost. lol
or maybe you can just weld the flapper shut and run an external wastegate.

I know this is an old thread, and I figured I hate reading threads with incomplete answers to problems.

Earlier in this thread, I said I was throwing a CEL. It turns out that it had nothing to do with the Greddy Kit. For one reason or another, the airpump took a crap.

I had it replaced by Billman, and he told me the plastic propellers in the AP1 air pump are prone to this, and it does happen. He installed an AP2 pump, which has metal prop blades, and the problem is gone. Been a year, and not so much as a mouse fart, car runs flawlessly, in 4 seasons, with AC and heat working perfectly, and temps never increase above normal, which includes spirited driving in NYC summers.

Nice, I have had a dumb issue and it was a bad ground to the motor. Sometimes the gremlin gets you.

Also, in case anyone cares, since this thread was bumped, I dont want to bump lots of old threads, but this may be useful to some....
