No ive got no oil feed or return hooked up now, as the belt is off the charger.
Now I'm very confused. You originally said you had the oil feed attached to the blower but no oil return going back to the oil pan. The belt has nothing to do with the oiling system on the blower. The oil is pumped by the car's oil pump. If you have the oil feed attached, then you have oil pressure going into the blower. If you have no oil return line leading back to the oil pan, you've got a closed system with pressure building up inside the blower. Please give this some thought and explain to us exactly what's going on.

I think Mark means he had the oil feed connected and the oil drain blocked when the problem occured, thus the leak due to pressure.

Since then he has disconnected the oil feed, and at no time has the SC belt been fitted.

X,

Im aware the belt has nothing to do with the oil system, but I was pointing out that as the belt is off, there is no requirement for oil to be circulating as the bearings will not be building heat - I thought id state that before anyone questioned why I now have no oil connection.

Its as Kevin states above.

I know that pressure built up due to the outlet being blocked, I just want to know if the seals are healthy on the blower.

Vortech seem to think it needs an overhaul, but I want to see a techincal diagram before I believe them.

Im a qualified mechanical engineer, and deal with complex mechanical seals / compressors / pumps and gas turbines. I deal with vendors a lot and dont trust em without seeing evidence! I may strip it myself if need be Trouble is, there is little support on this in the UK

I suggest you wait till you complete the oil circuit. Once the oil can go in and out, it shouldn't build up the same sort of static pressure. With oil flowing, those seals may prove themselves to be OK. Dry everything off, complete the oil return line, then start the engine again and see if the leak is still there. Spin the blower pulley a little bit by hand to help the oil get started, in case there is any debris present in the oil path.

Found out some more - apparently it should be fine, but wont know until I try it.

Also found out that Vortech customer service are rubbish. They just wanted me to send the unit back for a refurb without trying to help me with the problem

Its just a bloody O ring seal too, and they wont sell you the parts.

www.millsracing were very helpful and will overhaul at a fraction of the cost.
