Smile My drama continues

Well, yesterday evening I got a call from the tuner shop that I use and was told:

1. My Full-Race turbo manifold has a crack in it.
2. The HPC coating on the manifold is starting to flake off.
3. My Garrett GT3567R is leaking oil on the compressor side.

I went to the shop today to check out the issues. On the turbo manifold, there is a slight crack starting to form around runner #4 (I believe) and going towards the center of the collector. The weld isn't cracking but the medal itself. The HPC coating all around that area is flaking off as well. Concerning the oil leak on the turbo, between the hot side and the cold side is some sort of fitting in which the oil feed and return lines are hooked up to. Just to the right of that is the compressor housing. Apparently there is some sort of seal or diagram in that area which is supposed to prevent oil from entering the compressor housing. Well, something is going on with that part and oil has entered that housing.

Needless to say I am not a happy camper. I have always had issues with my cars (not only to include this S2000). I am beyond frustrated because I never have the opportunity to fully enjoy an modification because something ALWAYS seems to go wrong. Anyways, I am sending the manifold and turbo back to Full-Race on Monday. I am sure it will take a week to a week and a half before the parts (or replacement parts) are sent back to the shop I am using.

Because I can (and did) make a significant amount of more power (at the same PSI) with the Full-Race setup.

And, I had issues with the inlinePRO setup as well:

1. The bolt which held the Turbosmart wastegate to the inlinePRO turbo manifold kept backing off.
2. The bolts which hold the inlinePRO oil filter relocation kit kept backing off.

I feel your frustration loud and clear. One thing after the other.

had the same issues with the inlinepro kit with the bolts backing out until I got the right bolts and no problems since and do not expect the bolts to ever back out.

good luck

Sorry to hear Justin. This is what sucks when you modify your vehicle. Small modifications aren't trouble. When it comes down to tuning and FI thats when things can get broken. I can't believe that all of this happened. Hopefully my HPC coating doesn't have flaking issues or I'll be pretty pissed.

You'll be up and running soon. You use it as a second car so it'll just be a couple of weekends. My wife and possibly me will be down memorial weekend. If for some reason its faster for me to get your parts let me know and I could get them down to L.A. for you.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Phil!

The down-time really isn't a big deal because I only drive it a couple of times a month. What sucks is the fact that it hasn't been fully tuned yet, and I am very anxious to get that done. Also, these type of issues end up wasting money which could be spent on other mods.
