Default My headgasket replacing thread

I'm going to my friend's shop after he's done with work around 4 or 5. He wants to pull the motor, but I've seen people do it here with it still in the car. Someone from my local club said it's hard to get to the wiring harness bolts if the motor is left in the car. What do you guys think?

I'm going to be referencing Special Ops's thread here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=541042 as it should be a big help

Is there anyone that would be willing to give me their number just in case I need help with something at some point? And does anyone know where an online pdf service manual is for the car?

This is how i done, 1 stage 25f/lbs than 2nd 90 deg, 3rd 90deg than final with 80f/lbs for reuse stock bolts.

And make sure remove rear ground wire, its hard to see.. and if you using 3mm hg, timing will not line up perfect unless you mod the timing gear. which you don't really have to.... it still idle perfect.

Yeah I actually already have the 3mm installed, but it's blown. I am also using ARP studs. I do need torque specs for all the misc. bolts that are all over the motor though.

Before pulling the cam caps off, I see that I need to loosen the valve screws. Do I need to get a valve adjustment after this?

don't undo the valve screws... you can leave them at the settings they are at... ALso, keep the screw in the caps when you remove them. When removing the rocker assembly, squeeze them from the front and back so they don't come apart. It stops those little vtec pins from falling out!!

criss cross pattern from the inside out

so if you looked at it from above with cylinder one at the bottom and 4 above, you would look for the left bolt in the middle of cyl 2&3 and then go right, slowly going up and down on the opposite bolts! Do this slowly and not loosening the bolts all at once. You don't want to break a cap! Its not pretty!
