Default My rebuild thread

Well i have started to rebuild my turbo s again. I had some 3mm HG problems that finally got the best of me so i pulled the motor and had it rebuilt. I also started a wire tuck and shaved the engine bay. My plan is to upgrade to a gtx3076r from my gt3076r with water meth and larger injectors (id 1000's) then a its off for a retune.

before pic

before dyno dotted line

here are a few pics of the progress

bore and hone
mahle pistons 8.9 cr
acl bearings
bc rods
balance/blueprint etc

engine bay. I am really new to welding so progress is slow but i am starting to gain some ground now. The metal work is almost done, maybe two days left before i start with the body filler and tons of sanding

Gonna look clean! I want to do the same to my bay eventually! Only thing that bothers me is that there is no way to rustproof the other side of the weld when it penetrates...Its all concealed within the frame so its inevitable that it will start to rust eventually. Any solution to this or is it even worth worrying over?

I rust proffed the back of the metal with weldable primer but I still left a small clean border of metal around the edges. When the car goes to paint my friend has a small wand that he can get into any access hole in which we can spray primer into those hard to reach places for further protection.

I've seen body shops use a hole saw on the underneath of a box style frame (like ours) where the entire frame is enclosed.

They have a product that looks like the expanding spray foam that has a 360 spinning nozzle, and you stick that in the whole and it sprays and coats the entire underneath of the frame/etc.

This may sound like a dumb question, but im fairly new to the S2000, but why are you remolding and shaving your engine bay? is it just cosmetic? Just wondering, but it looks nice bro, cant wait to see the finished result.

Yes, he's doing it for the cosmetic "bling" factor.
