my turbo is toast!
Well, 2 years after buying joeyballs old turbo kit and it has decided to go in less than 10,000km of driving. But to be fair it was well used when I got it, and I sure haven't been nice on it either.
So I need a little help cause all this turbo stuff makes me go cross eyed trying to figure out what's in the same class from precision/garrett/borg etc.
Current setup:
Fully built/sleeved block
FIC 1650's with 850HP fuel pump setup (walbro 400 feeding a surge with 2 255's, and -8/-6 lines)
PFab twinscroll manifold (T4)
GT35R
Realisically speaking the car is mostly street driven, with the hopes of getting in some lapping days and going to the odd drag night.
That being said I would like to have full spool by 4500 rpm, power goals 450 for street/pump gas 94 octane, 600ish for 114 octane.Keeping the whatever brand is better than this brand jabber out of it, what would you recommend for a turbo. The quicker it spools the better.
And well I'm at it, does bigger AR numbers spool faster or slower?

The GTX will spool slower, all things being equal, due to the slightly heavier compressor wheel. The only advantage will be if you're running very high pressure (20+ PSI).
It may be worthwhile to adjust the turbine housing if you're looking for faster spool. A smaller A/R should increase turbine response but may sacrifice top end power.
Keep in mind that the center section (which I assume is what you have damaged?) is available separately.

lol 6266 is too big, maybe if it was a drag only car
I was told by garrett that the turbo isn't rebuildable. They only offer a core exchange, which is like 200$ less than a new turbo. So after I ship it from canada to the usa, it doesn't really seem worth it. So I'll keep it as a paper weight lol.
I've been reading and 5858 seems to be inbetween a gt30 and 35. So that kind of has my interest but doesn't appear to come in T4 divided. So I was looking at the 5862, does anyone experience with those?

If I was in your position, I would go GTX3576R with the biggest A/R they have 1.06 Divided?
You have the 35R Back Wheel for flow, the 1.06 Divided is still tiny for what the motor flows...so the motor doesn't choke on the top.
Pair it with the Billet 30R Compressor Wheel...turbo's good for right around 550-600whp, and yu will get u everything u need/want.
35R power with better spool. Best scenario unless u wanna go EFR 8374, but u'd hafta redo yer downpipe and stuff.

What kind of car are you building then? You need a 62mm+ size turbo for that goal if you don't want to max the turbo out on race gas.
