Thumbs down MY00 low compression on cylinder #4

Hello to all. I apoligize for such a poor post. It appears that a spark plug had melted (part of the tip and insulation missing from plug). I have pulled the codes. It states that all 4 cylinders are misfiring and there is a random missfire. I took it to the shop a couple of days ago. They did a compression test and only told me that CYL #4 was down %40 compared to 1,2,3. Those appear to be fine. He also said that the exaust valves on 4 are cooked and there is scoring on the block wall (cylinder play?). And finally the pistion rings are probably dunzo. Any ideas on cost for a "worst case senario". He said he is not sure of there is enough scoring to merit boring out the cyl walls.

Shoot I'm in the same boat.

Cylinder #4 has 150 compression.

Most quotes Ive been getting from some shops are really discouraging...

Told me my 2k budget wouldn't be close to enough for freshening up the bottom end with some oem spec stuff..

Look for a new short block or have one fully built.

Did he say how bad the scoring was? It might not be as bad as expensive as you think. Will you be doing the assembly yourself?

I have always wanted to rebuild my own motor but I don't have a good machinist readily accessible and I don't know that I trust myself to do it right the first time out of the gate.
