Thumbs up Need help with a major decision.

Some of you may be following my mis shift issues in the UTH section. Anyway, I recently had an engine issue where I lost all compression in cylinder #3 and the head is currently at the machine shop being repared. What the outcome will be eventually is still up in the air. I will be having the dealership install my 3mm cometic HG and ARP head studs per specs. Obviously when that is complete I will have another leakdown test to make sure the compression is alright.

Now to the quesiton. Would you still boost the car.
Its a major question because if the motor is to weakend from the mis shift I will end up selling it as 200whp or even 300whp isn't enough for my blood anymore. Any comments are welcome but I will seriously consider anyone who has had a similar issue and decision. Thanks in advance.

As long as everything is fixed I don't see why not.

Its not like there is a giant hole in your block that some tech fixed with bondo, probably some valves needing replacement

Was the head damage the obvious cause of the loss of compression?

The reason I ask is that I also suffered a loss of compression resulting in plug fouling and misfiring. But a clean up and she would run again... for a while.

The problem was a cracked ring.

I would hate for you to do all this work and put it back together only for the problem to reoccur.

I don't think there was actual head damage. Just damage to the valves due to an over-rev. The valves and retainers and keepers will be relaced.

Keep in mind, if you put the headgasket on you'll need management to be able to manage it. You wouldn't be able to sell a stock S with 9:1 compression

I didn't think of that??? But its cool because if all is well and it gets put back together with the new HG and headstuds then I won't be driving it anywhere but 2 miles home, and then I guess I will have it towed or trailored to the installers place for the turbo install. Unless I hook the emanage up myself and someone gives me a base map for a stock motor with 8.7-9:1 compression.
