Default Need opinion on what to do with charge pipe.

So I have the ptuning kits charge pipe off of the throttle body down. Its a one piece that goes down. I had it orignally modded to fit a bov on it, but the dummy who did it left a pin size hole in it and did some stupid ass welding. I have to get that piece cut out now after I got it already powder coated, weld in a replacement piece, then get a new BOV flange welded in the correct location since, then re powder. Is this all worth it. InlinePro quoted me 150 just for labor. I think thats a lot. Its starting to get aggrevating.

I was thinking about just cutting off the bad piece, get a silicone coupler long enough to to match the part I cut out and attach it together. Wont look as nice but its in front of the radiator so it wont look that bad I guess. Then get the bov welded in the correct location and just powdercoat that portion of it.

If you have to do any fabrication to the piping, might as well do it all at the same time. Don't take shortcuts because you will regret it later.

I agree

If you cut the pipe, are you going to get the 2 ends at the cut bead rolled? Then you still have to have the BOV flange cut out and rewelded in the right spot.

No I wasn't going to have it bead rolled. I am just going to drop it off at another shop today and have him finishing the pipping. I know people get pipes that bead rolled to prevent it from coming loose, but thats in extreme cases where you pushing a lot of PSI. I haven't had all my pipes bead rolled when I made my pipes.

I've had non-bead rolled intercooler pipes blow off at ~10psi on my old SC setup. I wouldn't run any charge pipes that were not bead rolled on my turbo setup...it's such a PITA when they blow off

Again, do it right or you'll regret it later.

Pipes can blow off at 5-7 psi. I second everyone who has said do it right the first time. If not, you'll eventually redo it at greatly increased cost and time.
