So why was this one designed again? I have a brand new Hardtopguy ACT kit waiting in my garage right now. If there are issues with the old style i dont want it installed.

I doubt ACT is going to do anything for current PP owners because this is more of a preventative measure for their new design.

Interesting side note. I have driven 4 different S2000's with the ACT HD Pressure plate, oem disk, and lightened flywheel. 2 of them had a heavier pedal feel than the other 2. Im on my second ACT setup now and both my cars where s/c'd. Both my clutches always felt close to stock pedal pressure. The other 2 took a much more signifcant amount of force to push down.

Thanks for the report, archtop!

I'll probably go with the new ACT pressure plate, too, when I need a replacement, but I have had the current ACT pp with OEM disc installed now for almost 30,000 KW hi boosted miles -- including lots of track miles -- and it is still just as smooth as butter. Thrust washers have shown no evidence of wear. I kept the AP2 fly wheel when I had the ACT clutch installed, so only the pp is changed.

What is the ETA on the new pp release?

I will be needing a clutch soon.

The first production parts of the new design were in process a couple days ago and probably already shipping. For more information on the minor differences in design you can check out this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=663489. The thread also covers a lot about clutch design in general.

For those that are grateful for the changes, you can thank Jack (Goddard) and others for stirring up the pot enough to get our attention. I may not agree with the conclusion that our clutch causes crankwalk, but I could see opportunities for improvement without significant tradeoffs.
