The first production parts of the new design were in process a couple days ago and probably already shipping. For more information on the minor differences in design you can check out this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=663489. The thread also covers a lot about clutch design in general.

For those that are grateful for the changes, you can thank Jack (Goddard) and others for stirring up the pot enough to get our attention. I may not agree with the conclusion that our clutch causes crankwalk, but I could see opportunities for improvement without significant tradeoffs.
Thank you Dirk!

How is the new part designated so we know what to look for?

The new part has the same part number as the old one so it still agrees with our catalog, etc. You can identify the newer design by the diaphragm part number (new #273 versus old #108) or by the date of production which is on the label on the box. Anything in this month going forward will be the new design.

I am also considering making an Xtreme version that will have about 65% increase later this year. BTW, that is an actual increase in clamp load (and torque capacity if combined with a street disc), not just a fictitious number. You can do the math yourself by going to the other thread and following the calculations. You cannot compare apples with oranges when it comes to the claims. Where some clutch companies come up with their claims...? I can't answer that one.

Excellent

My clutch is due to go out anytime now. I was hoping the new one would be available before my clutch died.

Thanks Dirk!

This is why i am glad i have your product. You are a stand up guy and even give respect to the guy who stirred the pot and motivated a change. I'd also like to say that I respect Goddard for taking action where others have only pointed fingers. I respect ACT even more now because your professionalism is second to none.

Yet, ironically, didn't he get banned for stirring the pot too much?

His banning was a not a result of his posts. Keep this on topic. Off topic posts will be removed.

install price + new pp cost makes it a hard decision to switch over.

the only thing that keeps me from switching over is the fact that Dirk was very confident the current ACT pp was not the direct cause of crankwalk.
Ya and I have been using the ACT PP with a CTSC setup for over 5 years now and I have not experienced any crankwalk.
