A search will show a lot of discussion.

The most often recommended combo is an aftermarket PP (ACT or Mugen), a stock FD, and optionally a lightened flywheel (Comptech or Toda).

Would not suggest any puck type FD for street use. (also note that a number of us had poor luck with spec clutches some year ago).

3800 miles?! wow..

Let us know if we can be of help. We carry both Spec and ACT clutch kits.

I have been pleased with the Clutch Masters stage III. It is a kevlar disc (not a puck) that holds over 300 ft-lb of torque to the wheels. Costs around $950 for the kit.

I haven't tried any of the others.

I'll second Yakrat's reccomendation on the Clutchmasters stage 3. His car is making lots of power, and is track driven. The pedal effort is light, and holding capacity unreal. Yakrat's car would spin the tires at the top of 3rd gear on Pilot sport cups.

If you're gonna make a lot power, I'd use it.

For a NA car or stock boost SC'd car, the ACT street clutch does a great job as well.

Thumbs up

Question: HW wants to replace my entire clutch assembly with the new motor they are dropping in. I'm not paying any labor on it (since they need to do it all anyway with the new motor) but I'm wondering if i should have them resurface the flywheel or keep the pressure plate. My rep told me Honda spec says that you have to replace the whole thing - but is this really the case?

You have an 01, you might as well replace everything.

since you're going FI i'll move this to FI forum.

from what I've seen, many who have the SC get this:

ACT Heavy Duty Pressure Plate

Stock OEM clutch disk

Stock throwout bearing

Comptech flywheel or machined/lightened stock flywheel.

The OEM clutch disk seems to work fine if you have the ACT HD PP

I have the above clutch/flywheel setup and am very pleased with it...MUCH better over stock...and really feels like the clutch should feel on this car...and it really isn't very heavy at all.

however, sadly I don't have an SC yet
