The melting point for aluminum is about 1200* F, so it's not much of a concern when starting after a downpipe. The only reason I ran stainless to the back of the car was so that I could run the resonator I chose.

The downside to an aluminum exhaust is it won't hold up to the elements with constant heating and cooling cycles like steel will, but fortunately I don't drive the car much.

I'd rather not say how much I paid, b/c it was a lot
