In fairness it is only 5 months since the first post on this thread so I don't think that is too bad for the development of a kit. The BRP, axial flow etc... have all taken MUCH longer!

I am in no rush so will definitely wait to see a dyno before deciding. The lower weight and quieter operation of this unit are big plus points for me.

I e mailed Jackson Racing (again) yesterday. They are very fast with replies, which is great. Their response was:

"Alex,

Hello again!

The S2000 release has been pushed back slightly, to late summer. This will allow us to get good summer track testing and ensure our final calibration is correct. The S2000 is a very important model for us, and it is a priority.

We apologize for the change in dates, but it was a must! We know it has upset a few S2Ki-ers, but we have been very busy!
Jackson Racing has "re-grown" very fast, and has caught us a little off guard. Oscar Jackson Sr. and I have been overwhelmed with the revived excitement! Our new team is simply awesome and as we settle in, you will see our productivity and technology shine.

No dyno graphs are available at this time, we really do not want to get the cart before the horse. Lots and lots of testing is going into the S2000 supercharger kit.

Hope S2Ki understands!

Thanks for your time and interest,

Oscar Jackson Jr.

So they are still going ahead but as with all these things they take longer than expected. I think if you assume you will be looking at the last quater of the year before they are in full production you shouldn't be too dissappointed.

I am really glad they are going ahead especially with the news about Comptech. Can't wait to see some dynos.

I guess it would not do me any good to send them another e-mail.

Perhaps if there are more individuals show interest with this upcoming supercharger, they'll get it done before the end of Spring (wishful thinking).

hmmmmm.... well i would rather the kit be more refined and researched then one just thrown together. Just gives me more time to save up... I am curious what kind of numbers we are looking at... 260-280whp 280-300whp 300-320whp ect.. would be nice to have a kit with 320+whp. just wishful thinking. I'm also curious what pricing will be on this kit... What do you guys think? I hope it not ridiculous like some SC six grand.. BLAH I would rather go turbo in that case.....

The max I would pay (including taxes, installation, etc) would be 6K. Turbo is really not an option for me as it is not CARB legal. CA is quite strict with illegal boosting.

Interesting thread.

I was doing some casual surfing yesterday, went to jacksonracing.com to see if Moss had ever come out with an Eaton blower kit for the S2k. Imagine MY surprise when I landed on Oscar's new web site! (The old Moss Motors/JR site is still up at supercharger.com and also calls itself Jackson Racing. I wonder how they worked out the brand issues.)

After reading about Oscar's latest enterprise I searched s2ki for "Jackson Racing" and found this thread.

A couple of comments...I am certainly not as close to the organization as some of the folks here but I did have a lot of contact with the Moss folks who sponsored my 99 Civic Si...

The OLD Jackson Racing was VERY slow to deliver on product plans, as noted by others above. At one point I thought I would have a JR charger for my Si in the fall of 2000 (I think)...that turned out to be wildly optimistic. Almost a year later I ended up with a prototype (actually an early production unit from a run of six) and I only got one of those because I was showing at NOPI and JR/Moss wanted some exposure east of the Mississippi. So, yes, these things take time.

About roots vs. centrifugal: there is NOTHING like a positive displacement blower for low-end grunt. I am extremely skeptical that any centrifugal type supercharger can offer anything like the feeling of a roots type blower which delivers FULL boost at almost any rpm as soon as you open the throttle.

That said, I think I would prefer a nice linear climb in boost with RPM on a high strung honda. This is more in keeping with its native personality. When the Si came out with its 8k redline B16 and punchy vtec engagement, the lack of torque at the low end was just part of the charm...sort of. I thought the JR setup was absolutely amazing the first year or so I owned one. (It really was an amazing first effort...lots of refinement has happened since then especially in fuel management.) But after awhile whenever I drove a normally aspirated Si I was reminded of how much fun the stock version was. The modest power of the B16 just builds and builds to redline while my blown version would feel like it was running out of steam as the revs climbed. Then came the turbos and my JR Si wasn't even very fast any more...sort of caught in between the fun to drive stock setup and the baller 300HP kits (a 300 HP Civic was so impressive 7 years ago.)

Don't get me wrong. JR/Moss were great to work with and I will always be grateful for the sponsorship and for the pleasure of driving a Honda with torque. I have always held Oscar Jackson in high regard. But my experience with the JR/Eaton blower leaves me feeling that, for me, a centrifugal supercharger would provide a nice easy-to-install option for creating the kind of just-the-same-only-more-so personality I would like to eventually get in my S2K.
