Default No VTEC with Greddy Ultimate

I just installed my Greddy kit with the Ultimate E-Manage, everything works well except that I do not have VTEC. I bought this kit used and the EMU has an AP2 map, is this a tuning issue or a wiring issue?

you sure vtec isnt engaging? The vtecs probably still there its just that you have so much better low end power that once you hit vtec you dont feel it kick in.

ap2 map is pretty diff from the ap1 map due to the wiring differences in the ap2 harness vs. ap1 harness.

i would get an ap1 map in there and also let us know the answer to these guy's questions: how exactly do you know vtec isn't engaging? going by feel or do you have a CEL?

The reason I say I have no vtec is because I don't hear/see/feel any difference when it is supposed to engage. I don't have any CELs either. I'm waiting until my gauges arrive to take it to the tuner next week.

FWIW, my vtec on my greddy kit is 7k and power drops afterward so I don't really feel anything.

it'd probably be smartest to not go around racing the car until it's tuned with a proper map...

I'm not racing it, I just wanted to make sure everything was working properly. The car is going to sit until the day I get it tuned.

I think you may need to change one wire on the harness going from AP1 to AP2. Also be sure the Greddy wire harness is plugged in fully and that the wires are not too bent.. My harness was sensitive to this and would not VTEC correctly if there was too much bend in the wires coming out of the harness. (probably a bad connection in one of the wires etc) Lastly check your oil level as if it is low your car will also not vtec.
