i thought that the sc kits where a bolt on your car and have fun. but it sounds like thats a half truth. you CAN if your car is bone stock, but if you have as little as a aftermarket exhaust and test pipe that its not a simple bolt on. you'll need to go and dyno tune to make sure your not leaning the car out. of course if i am going to spend 5k i want to just bolt the damn thing on and go. so logically i want to bolt it onto my setup and net a little extra with my single exhaust, but it sounds like its not that easy.

Since you already have the vafc, i'd suggest you keep it. And yes you can use the vafc to increase fuel. because of the map clamp, you're limited to how much you can increase w/out throwing a code though. but even then, I was still able to lower my a/f ratio by about 1 point.. (going +10 on the vafc)... as for vtec, didn't really mess around with it, left it stock. Good luck with the setup.

and yes, the consensus on the vortech seems to be that they run kinda lean out the box (i know mine does), but at the same time, many people have been running them that way with no problems, go figure.. lol unless you're going w/ aem, i'd suggest you keep the vafc.

Both comptech and Vortech have design a package that can be just bolted on a stock car and run reasonably safely and reliably.
As soon as you change anything from stock you lose the safey margin.
I'm a little concerned on mine as it is stock EXCEPT the Amuse Ti Dual, hence I'm getting it Dyno tuned and have a AEM wideband going on as well.
If it runs well like that I'm going to leave it that way
(you watch 6 months time I'll be looking at ECU's headers, injectors, pulleys )
it just seems that for as long as these kits have been out, they would have found a fix for this. i maybe have just cured myself of the boost bug.

What does it really matter if you cant run your exhaust? ~2psi > exhaust. Are you trying to make more power or just sound better? More power, less stench, more quiet with the stock exhaust.

And if you think about it, it doesnt really "suck" it makes a lot of sense. Comptech and vortech have to produce a kit for customers of the lowest common denominator -stock s2000s. When you throw on an TP+exhaust, it causes the system to run lean, an inescapable law of physics. I suppose they could toss in some bigger injectors and some fuel management to drive them, but that would jack up the price another 1-2 grand.

They built a kit that maxes out what the stock engine can handle and you're trying to take the kit beyond the scope of what it was engineered for.

So if my Amuse runs lean I'll take it off rather than upping injectors, replacing ECU's etc
