not just another boost post, serious advice wanted
Sad to say I got a DUI 7 months ago and my boosting project was shattered, none the less i still continued my research. 3500 dollars later after court and lawyer fees, i have a clean record.
So what I know I want and what I know I don't want.
Budget around 3grandish maybe 4, but would like to stay less. O I have a 2001 AP1 with about 45k miles. clutch getting replaced after winter.
I am going to go system through system and bare with me I was a journalism major and write a lot.
SCers
Comptech Vortech. Sorry but they seem boring and overdone. Yes for my budget they are safe and probably the best choice, but like I said they just seem so cliche to SC and be done. I cant stand the start up sound and the marbles in a can clinking drives me nuts.
SOS, too expensive for what I think i'll be getting. I feel like I could much easier get a boring CT/VT after cooled and lightly modded and be better off. Sorry I am not bashing those who have gone with SOS, i have read it is a great kit just not for me.
I want a Kraftwerks base kit however it is out of my price range. I love the sound of it, the promises of it, and overall I feel this is the best most reliable SC kit on the market.
If made it through that thank you, on to turbos.
Turbos
Greddy kit. This kit seems safe, basic, well priced, and most likely what I will end up with if i don't end up saving money to get something better. seriously can i even think about hitting 300+whp with this kit or am I going to spend a shit ton getting it there. I know i can do about 280, but it seems like this kit just can't create that sort of power.
Mase Kit. Obviously this is the mother load of gangsta out of the box turbos for the S2000. However I only payed 12000 for my car and don't want to spend 8000 getting this thing working.
Inline pro. This kit seems great and if i was saving for a turbo i think this would be the winner, but then I feel like i'd rather go for the KW SC kit since it will roughly cost the same as the IP turbo set up.
So onto some conclusions.
Custom turbo's are out b/c duh they cost too much and to be honest I've never owned an FI car and would probably get into more trouble than I'm capable of handling.
Next I plan on going with an ACT heavy clutch and lw flywheel combo after winter.
For tuning I want a kit that comes pre-tuned and I don't have to worry about taking it somewhere b/c this is my daily driver and I wouldn't want to go through the trouble.
I am leaning towards a greddy turbo around xmas time and would like to install it with the clutch. December ish time.
If not I would wait for the KW SC kit. I hear boost is addicting and so I need opinions. I am not biased towards Turbo or SC. all comments are welcomes even if you have nothing intelligent to say.
Also if anyone has a boosted S in the DC area and would take me for a ride that would be awesome.
Thanks for reading hope i was more entertaining than boring.

Best advice: save more money and do it right. There's nothing worse than paying $4K for boost then wanting more and having to do it all over again. Trust me, I wasted over $7K on a Kraftwerks SC and now my car is at Mase's getting a turbo put in.

I agree and disagree with some of the above posts. First let me say that going turbo is the way to go if you want to wipe ass with everyone on the street, and if you want more boost its at your finger tips for little expense. But thats just the reason why I don't want to go that route, I would never be satisfied (this is my daily driver, and correct me if I'm wrong but most of you guys that have 600+hp have other DD IMO) then I would become one of those nut buying 1600cc injectors to go 900+hp or w/e. My plan is to max out the SC somehow, then work on the block, maybe do a 2.4 or greater displacement change.
I'm a critic now, and just wait a year and I'll be the biggest hypocrite when I put my SC setup for sale for turbo!!! LOL 3

I've got the first AP1 KW kit, and I'm just outside Ft. Belvoir, south of DC. We can take a ride, if you don't have a camera on you. A caveat, though: I've found that the S2K hauls ass in an inverse relation to the number of asses to be hauled, meaning that it hauls ass twice as well when there are half the asses to haul. An extra 200 pounds makes a noticable difference, so expect it to do twice as much with just you in the car as it would with you and your bud.
My advice as an old guy with no dog in this fight is, ride with me, ride with Druz, then get the InlinPRO guys to give you a ride. That way you get two SC's and a very reputable turbo to form an opinion.
I predict that after that, you will be picking up soda cans to make the extra money, if that's what it takes to get one of the three. Damn, it's a blast.
EDIT: Druz, PM me if you want someone to help with your install. I'm just outside Belvoir, and I take orders well, for a recently retired SFC.
