Default Novi upgrade deals

Hi,

I'm want to upgrade my CT Novi 1000 kit to a 1200.

Where is the best place (cheapest to buy) the new novi unit from?..... Paxton, SOS or other?

I know I will require a new mount plate & pulley from SOS but would like to know the best solution for the charger.

Thanks

SOS has the mounting kit + the charger, but I'd call vortech/paxton to see if they'd offer a deal if you send in the novi 1000.

Id avoid "cheap" options like the plague, would really suck to spend 4x that amount back tracking on repairs later to save a couple dollars now. The most reliable way to do this is to call up Paxton, they usually offer a very reasonably priced upgrade going from the N1000 to the N1200. From there you will need a new mounting plate from CT that costs roughly $350 USD. IIRC the cost to upgrade to the 1200 was in the ball park of 650 for me, so my costs were roughly 1k. No ebay specials, no second hand used risks, and the safe pathway comes with a warranty and factory built piece of mind.

I believe that SoS no longer sells the upgrade plate but you can always call them to be sure. If you buy the N1200 straight up, you are looking at a ball park of 1600, so call Paxton and see what they can do, that would would be the "cheapest" option. If they still offer the upgrade option the that is the best option all around.

Sry, if my tone is somewhat.... condescending. I just bang my head into a wall every time I hear that word because there have been countless times I've seen someone take the "cheapest" route and then spent 3-4x the cost on repairs later.

Sos no longer makes the plate. Call Paxton.

This was actually discussed about a week ago (though not in the most aptly named thread for it): https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/112...ized-impeller/

When I had a busted novi 1000 and wanted to trade it in for a 1200, SOS was actually still cheaper than Paxton with the trade in. I was able to sell the novi 1000 on here for >$100 also so it was a no-brainer.

Spoke to Paxton and SOS, as you say SOS works out cheaper even with the $500 trade in.

I'm going to get a polished 1200 from SOS, so now the decision is which mounting plate is best? SOS spoke about the group buy mention above.

I have one of the original old style CT plates (without rubber bushes) and I'm concerned about fitment as my vtec oil pickup mout only has one bolt hole and the later versions had two!

Any advice on that anybody?

The older style plate will not fit the newer N1200 bolt patterns. There are evcen two different backs to the N1200, I learned this after sending mine in for a rebuild, bearings were shot from overly tight belt. Id talk to nate and get the updated vtec sandwich block, those rubber bushings are great insurance against vibration wear. I wish I could post pictures so you know what you are looking at. Are you a member of the S2000 FB groups?

Ill look at my old pics, as the two different N1200 backs had P/N#s on them. Either way, better to get the newer sandwich block IMO. IIRC those are roughly in the 200 USD range.

You will love the N1200, but besure to get a retune after installing it. My setup made the same power on 1psi less boost with the new 1200, it is a more efficient design.

/\ that's exactly what I was concern about, thanks for clarifying.

I'll give CT engineering a call today also. It's a shame their plate doesn't fit the Novi1200 "off the shelf".

I just want the easiest/most simplest solution now.

If SOS is not selling the Novi1200 plate with their NOVI1000 to NOVI1200 upgrade package, how are people mounting their NOVI1200 blowers?

SOS will do a group buy to reduce manufacturing cost and sell them as a one off.

Only other option is CT engineering but I've just tried to call them and you now have to contact them through an authorised dealer?!

I just want to use one supplier and pay now! But it looks like I can't...
