i dont think its needed for low mount turbo manifold like the sos and p tuning turbo setup because they mount the turbo on the side and very low and out of the way of important things that can melt

With sidewinder manifold its a whole new story because they create so much heat in the engine bay its very easy to melt stuff if you dont have everything relocated and/or wrapped

I also hate the look of vented carbon fiber hoods but after i installed my seibon mugen style hood the engine bay temps did go down a lot. I opted to keep the hood and have it paint matched.

It also depends if you only drive your car on the street or if you actually track you car. i know for a fact that if i tracked my car that everything in the engine bay would melt.

I have nothing relocated but for cooling mods i have. manifold and down piped is wrapped with with dei titanium wrap. Dei turbo blanket. All hoses and wiring is wrapped with dei fire sleeves. Custom heat shield from protecting the battery and fuse box. Mishimoto radiator and low temp thermostate. two custom 12 inch spal extreme fans and a custom front mount oil cooler

Has anyone tracked their car with one of these sidewinder type setups? That's one of the problems I see, I don't know if the car could handle 30 min sessions being beaten on.

I wondered the same lately. I drive my car on the street only. Any pulls are highway pulls. I recently decided to go back to oem hood and have my front bumper redone custom. I know the temps will go up. How much is where I am worried.

I am ok with the way it looks but to be honest I worry about the elements getting into my engine bay. I don't want it to rain and everything get wet or dirty. Also my replica CF hood was heavier then the OEM hood which bothered me.

i run oem hood with sidewinder setup, it doesnt melt your hood, or other crap. my only melting issue was when my dump tube cracked and tried to bbq the wire harness near it. hood and underhood temps never caused issues. i moved my battery to trunk and turned fuse box sideways. i made a simple heat shield and thats it. all street driving with ac on, in hot florida sun.

people over think this stuff.
