Ok, so I spend 3 days going trough ALL the treads in this section just to find out that one year down the line, we still have a 50/50 success on the headgasket instalations.
I would LOVE people who KNOW (read as did it already) to chime in on the following:
1.What brand of gasket and from where
2.Does InlinePRO sell their own (and only with the kit) or is the COmetic the same make?
3.Did Cometic come to a final solution? (I heard they revised the design 2 times already)
4.What about the stock bolts/APR studs from h22?
5.How to proceed while instalation to ensure it does NOT leak after a few miles?
6.Who else makes a 2mm besides COmetic
7.What needs to be done with the 3mm? (cam gears?)
The reason I ask this is, one year after installing the LoveFab V.1 300whp seems to be rather on the low side. I pna to do the 2mm and hope to hit at least 350whp what should do to be able to take care of my disease
for the next year.
Please keep this on topic as possible.

I want to know too. I am intalling the 2mm Cometic, and will get my car back today or tomorrow, so I am hoping no leaks (new short block and stock head with 30K). I will not be boosting until after the block is broken in, so I will have some time NA to document how the headgasket affects performance (plus a pre boost dyno).

2. Yes, and you order it outside of their kit... Cometic are stacked, the IP is one piece aside from the shell.
3.
4.I wouldn't run the ones from the H23.
5.Do it right the first time...
6.Any custom gasket maker
7.You remove a pin from your cam gear so there is some extra play. Raising the head 3mm without doing this would not be possible.
I've had both the cometic 2mm and IP 3mm in my hands, and sold the 2mm after I realized it wouldn't work out with my setup. The cometic is stacked, and the IP was solid. I don't think the cometic would be reusable, but the IP certainly looks like you could. IP is steel, cometics looked like they were copper core. They may have revised their product since I last saw one, but IP is worth the difference in price. I'm not a big IP fan personally, but the gasket is quality.
The cometic is actually a 4-ply gasket and looks very similar to the OEM gasket.
The companies that make the studs that I know of are ARP, raceware, AEBS. I am running the AEBS personally.

4.If you don't run the ARP studs, what else than? Stock bolts are fine? What torque spec?
5.Do it right sounds good, can you tell US how to do it right?
7. I don't know what pin, but is it really as simple as removing a pin? I know that a B18C needs adjustable camgears with a 3mm headgasket.
Guys I'm the first one in the Middle East that will do this and just the 2nd one with a turbo, so I have to get all the info together to do it right.
Can the dealer do the headgasket install just by following the HELMs manual or is there anything "special" to know besides "removing a pin" on the gears?

Now if you have the time, can you please contribute a bit more?
1.stock head bolts or APR studs from H23?
2.Copper spray used?
3.Torque spec?
4.How many miles "no troubles at all"
5.Did you perform a leak test to back up "no troble at all"?
6.SInce you run a InlinePRO kit (nice numbers
) why do you not use their head gasket?

To be honest i had no idea people were having trouble with head gasket changes.1. Aftermarket headstuds
2. No idea? I dont think so.
3. No idea, sorry didnt do the install myself
4. Not sure the miles, but its been almost 4 months since i did the turbo and knock on wood no major problems.
5. Yes, my mechanic did
6. I got a better deal on the Cometic. Otherwise i would have used InlinePros

2.Can you find out? Since the cometic is a multi-layer
3.can you find out?
How is the off boost driveability and throttle response with a 8.8CR compared to stock?
