Default oil feed pressure question

hi guys i am planning to install a gt28 on the S so for the oil feed line does anyone know the pressure? i could get it from the oil pressure switch or i could also tap into my oil filter relocator sandwich but i have no way of testing pressure on either place, according to garrett the GT28RS wants to see 3-4 bar (45 to psi) of oil pressure to be happy and well fed during operation. The pressure can be less at around 15-20 psi at idle i am planning to use a -3an line with a 0.35 restrictor ( since that wat everyone on here recommend )and a -10 return line Thank you so much for any help!!

The oil pressure switch is a good location. That's where us supercharged guys run it off of. You'll see about 20-30 psi at idle and 80-95 psi full throttle.

that seem kinda high compare to what garrett recommends i wonder if thats why everyone is using a 0.35 restrictor on their BB setup because of that thank you for the info

Yup, that's why. You don't want to feed the spool with straight -3 or -4AN hose. That turbo will not last long, it will seep oil past its seals, and that oil will be carbonizing, creating a relatively abrasive powder, which in turn, under high rotational speed will rub against the seal. Cause and effect, you get the picture.

So under that 90psi pressure (~6 Bar), the in-line oil restrictor will not limit the pressure as much as the volume of oil getting to the bearings in the CHRA.

I bought my off of E-bay, some VW turbo accessories vendor or something.

I thought the recommended size was -4an with a restrictor by Garrett?

-4 or -3 line will both be fine. They both flow too much oil for the turbo it does not matter when line you use. the important thing is to run a .035 restrictor

so between the oil filter sandwich and the pressure switch is one better than the other pressure wise when using a -3 line and a 0.35 restrictor??

sandwich filters out the oil. so I would think its the better option.

-3AN or -4AN that makes zero difference. I my memory still serves me you will want a .035" on a BB and .065" for a Journal

I fyou pull off the OP pressure switch port you will be seeing clean oil right out of the filter through an internal passage in the block. Just install a Tee fitting and pull you feed off this.

Good luck and post up some dyno's I have always that the GT28 would be a great option for the S2000! It should be a great compromise for power and spool.
