Oil Temps & Pressures
As part of my stock Comptech ACSC install I put in a SPA Dual Digital Gauge for oil pressure and temperature using a sandwich block on the oil filter. The oil is Castrol fully synth 0W40.
I'm getting some curious readings so I thought I shared and compare with you guys.
Cold idle I get ~ 30 psi and ambient temp
Hot idle I get ~14 psi and >85C depending on how I was just driving and ambient conditions. The low idle worries me a bit.
Driving out of vtec, peak pressure is ~ 90 psi with peak temp at 95C, cooler ambient gives a lower peak as you would expect.
During hard driving the pressure remains good but the temperature rises, current recorded peak is 107.7C. The alarm is set at 105C.
Question is do I need to worry and do I need an oil cooler?
I'm planning to go to a smaller pulley and AEM EMS over the winter which I guess would cause a further increase in temps

I wouldnt be worried till you are reaching 125C may want someone else to chime in but I think an oil temp under 275F is still acceptable which I think is around 125C
Also that pressure seems LOW 14PSI seems like a LOW LOW LOW LOW pressure. I would try going with a 10w40 or 10w30, to get the pressure up, this could also help keep your temps down. The heavier weight will help transfer heat. The heavier weight is not as good for performance though

Your reading of 14 PSI at idle is WAYY LOW!......anything below 20 PSI is dangerous.....what oil are you running....there is something wrong and it sounds like your running too thin of an oil.....stock oil pressure at idle is 35 psi. Your other readings are normal though.
I have a B&M oil cooler i added to help keep temps down since the charger raised my oil temps by 20 degrees. My oil pressure dropped by 8-10 psi at idle buts its still safe around 25-28 psi....and high rpm is unchanged.
Stock oil temps will run around 175-180.......with the charger and the cooler adder i am usually around 190-200 during warm street driving and it will creep up to 215-220 is the hottest i will see during spirited high rpm track use...anything over 225-230 is getting dangerous......because remember when oil temps rise.....water temps rise......and as oil temps cool.....then water temps cool.

same dillema here...I dont understand how would the car run the pressure suggested by the manual at 2.5bar at 80c of oil temp.
All i get is 1.4bar on idle when in full temp condition, and the oil temp is around 70c normal and around 65c. and record high i have seen was 95c on hill driving and getting to 100c when i stopped.
I know my friends civic B16 is around 85-90c normal and around 110-125c when driven hard(around town) and he says that my gauges arent accurate and that the TEMP isnt the real one when using a Sandwitch plate on the oil filter...
I assume that normal Oil temps on other cars are around 100-120c in normal conditions.Since some cars have oem Oil temps and i have seen them at this temps.
my car is around 80-85c when driven real hard around town.
I have HKS gauges and All the mugen Cooling mods if that counts for anything...Motul 5-40w in the Engine...
By the way i tested the Oil temp in the Oil stick with a K-probe and it says the same oil temp as the gauges but the Oil pressure is what worries me.
My friends civic is 2-2.5 bar idle when really hot.
