Default open downpipe or not? that is the question!

i am currently in the stages of putting all my stuff together and planning for the build itself. i know the immediate response will probably be dont do it! lol but...... how many of you have or are running open downpipe. i have the pfab top-mount tubular manifold with a t3-60/1 v-band with 3inch downpipe. im not really worried about paying an exhaust ticket, my b18 civic ran a gt40-r with open 4" downpipe (sig pic) on it for say a year with no tickets just looking for some input. i think it may be worth the..... lets say +5-10hp at 8psi???

I would say no to the open dp but I do run an open wastegate I think that is where the power is found not the dp because u need some back pressure.

yeah, if you really want open, run a cutout to stock exhaust. theres zero reason to drive around daily on open down pipe.

open dump tube = win

i thought that the open downpipe let the turbo spool quicker because of less exhaust ( restriction) for the exhaust to travel through. i guess increasing exhaust velocity? another reason i though it might hinder my power is i have a 70mm single

imho, you make most power with open dump, but why drive your s2k around like that when you can get a cutout, drive normal with your 70mm exhuast, then open the cutout when you want max power

Meh, when I took off my muffler to see what open dp sounded like (), I could easily feel less down low torque...I wouldn't recommend it.

Run the SP boost actuated cutout to stock exhaust like I do. It truely is the best of both worlds.
