To pass emissions with EMS
A local member with an EMS and CT supercharger said he puts on the stock pulley, injectors, and ECU when it's emissions time. I am going turbo so I know that things can get a little tricky. He said that his turbo Prelude friend with EMS puts in the stock ECU and injectors, and takes off the BOV so most of the boost escapes. Can our stock ECU handle this to pass emissions? Is it safe to do this? Should I get a manual boost controller to turn to boost waaaaay down and take the other advice given?
I'm an absolute turbo newbie and never owned a turbocharged car before so this is all new to me.

You need to 1st find out what emmisions testing is done in your area. Some require just an OBDII monitor check, others require a exhaust gas anyalsis test, Not to mention passing a visual inspection.
a local CO member just passed emissions with RC440's, EMS and Vortech S/C... CO does not care if there is communication with the OBDII... so a good tune is all that is needed...

but he profile says GA ( or do you live in CO now??) A boost controller can not lower boost any lower than the spring in the wastegate will allow . So if you have a 7psi spring in the wastegate, thats as low as you will be able to go .
If you have a external wastegate you could just remove the spring , wala no boost . If it is internal just remove the actuator rod. That would be the easiest solution . You would still need to swap the ecu and injectors.
You should not boost on the factory ecu with no means to add fuel . The supercharger has a small advantage as it really does not boost under 5k with the stock pulley . Your turbo would be fully spooled by then .

Thanks for the help guys. I live in Atlanta Ga, and they plug into the OBD2. I'm getting the InlinePRO kit, so I'm not sure which type of wastegate it has. Again, I'm very new to turbos and their parts. I've driven them, and understand how they work but I don't know the actual parts too well. I'm learning quick though!

Is this all I would have to do? If it's an external I could remove the spring and run the setup with the stock injectors and ECU and I'd be fine? And if it's an internal wastegate I could remove the actuator rod, and replace stock injectors and ECU and be fine? This will allow the car to drive like normal and just use the turbo as an "intake" correct?
There is a visual inspection, but I doubt some guy would know whether the turbo kit was CARB certified or not. The place I go to (which charges less money) always has some "slacker" type guy working there so I'm not too worried about that. I'll probably just go in with my full turboback exhaust and cat and not have to worry about the visual. I'm more worried about being able to plug into my stock ECU and having the car run safely to the emissions place and back.

BTW you can't turn down boost just with a boost controller. Whatever the rate is of the spring that is in the wastegate will be your floor for boost pressure, you actually have to change out the spring.
