PLM header vs. Comptech vs others?
I'm currently running about 10psi on the SOS kit and deciding if the OEM header is good enough or too restrictive?
Right now we have the OEM header, Berk HFC and a Fuji dual exhaust. I love the sound, no CEL and perfect smooth operation but not sure if the stock header flows well? I'm sure Honda engineers make a pretty good piece so don't want to "degrade" my car with a crappy aftermarket one. I also noticed the stock header has an O2 sensor just before the cat, will I lose this with most aftermarkets?
Is there any particular brand that is better than others or stands out? I need it to be CARB legal.
I had the Comptech before and the quality seems pretty good but how's PLM? Or Berk?
thanks

There is a new header thread in the N/A forum. It translates to SC. It seems as if Toda/J's racing are pretty matched with offering some gains over stock across the entire powerband. The Hyatech even more so. But I agree, unless you want to spend $1000+ for 5-10whp, I don’t think it’s worth it. The stock header is pretty dang good to 400whp. Don’t assume the rest of your exhaust is going to be matched to exude the most from your new header either. Plan on investing in the whole system or don’t bother.
Exactly. The OEM header is surprisingly good and most aftermarket ones don't seem to make gains while NA. With FI, a few become clearly better, but as s2000Junky said, it's usually 5-10whp. You have to spend an awful lot of money to get meaningful gains from exhaust mods on this car.
Sometimes I daydream about doing a header, 70mmHFC and custom 70mm exhaust, more to reduce boost pressure due to better flow than to make power. But I'll probably never do it.
I had your exact setup (Berk + Fuji) and it was perfect when I was Greddy'd, but became rather loud once I went SOS. I'm glad you like it! Sounds big and mean when you hit VTEC, doesn't it?
