Performance aside, coppers wont last as long in boosted/demanding applications. No one wants to change plugs with every oil change.

And yeah the performance is going to drop as the plug deteriorates.

Im wondering if my 7173's are what is causing my Defi D-gauge oil pressure gauge to malfunction. I have the oil pressure gauge wire, that goes to the oil pressure sending unit in the stock location on a T fitting, running up from the back of the valve cover and laying under the sparkplug cover and coming out the factory wire harness area at the front passenger side. Would these plugs cause my oil pressure gauge to flip out and get stuck at different pressures and fluctuate at times no matter the rpm? I thought it was my oil pressure sending unit at first but even when I unplugged it and turned the key on, the gauge didnt do the sweep like it should and kind of tried to and started fluttering all over the place. Maybe I just have a bad gauge?

Your car makes more than 1000hp that's some kind of record for sure? Either way I don't really care what kind of plugs you run I'm just stating what I've seen in my experience. I tune cars everyday and I have solved more misfire problems than you can imagine by throwing the "latest and greatest" plugs in the trash and putting coppers in. On top of that every race car I have ever worked on or seen from F1 cars to Rally cars have coppers, that has to count for something.

I would say there is no way your plugs are making that happen they can cause interference with radar detectors and extreme cases (bad grounds) your radio

The new F1 2.4 V8 engines make 1000hp?? More like 700 or so. And they last for one race if that. That's also engine horsepower, not wheel horsepower.

And when did I ever say iridiums are superior to coppers?? I didn't. I just know what works for me, and everyone I know. And I'm not talking about slow street cars either....haha

And about solving misfire problems, new plugs, regardless of type, usually fixes that.

They have been using copper plugs since the beginning and in the past (turbo era) made over 1500hp from a 1.5l until the 2.4's started they were making 1000 on the V10's. How much power do you think they lose to the wheels?

True but when's the last time you saw the tips broken off a copper plug? I for one have never even heard of it. Iridiums on the other hand look like that every time they are replaced, iridium is a pretty damn hard metal i'd hate to have that end up between my piston and my sleeve.

I don't know, and don't really care honestly. I've never had a tip break off. And I've gone through tons of plugs throughout the years. If not gapped properly, yes, that's definitely a problem with those.

I just disagreed with your initial statement. I never said coppers were bad, I never said they didn't work either.

I just know what works for me, and what has always worked for me and the many other high performance turbo'd 4 cylinder cars that I'm around or have owned.
