Air is also drawn in from under the car in certain areas if I remember some tunnel tests correctly on average cars.

This post has a picture of vents under the car.

These pictures are taken through the vent on the turbo side of my Top Secret Hood. The hot side is right underneath one of the vents and I know this has to have some major cooling contributions. Definitely get a hood.

What happens during rain? Is the water routed somewheres and not directly onto the turbo? Or the rest of the bay

I have a Top Secret style hood from Seibon and it does not have that additional cut out above the header (turbo in this case) what is a minus, but on the other hand, I don't like the idea of pulling up into a car wash and have cold water being sprayed directly on a hot turbo/manifold. How do you cope with that? Or when it rains....

^ Now I see yours is fake too and since you run a GT1 mani your turbo is up front.
Regarding the ducting, you can get yourself one of these, sure it wont look clean but should flow more than a 2"

I don't goto car washes. I've always wash my cars myself unless its a non modded car. Same goes for rain. Don't drive in it.

Not everyone has a family house with a garden hose to wash his car (and polute the enviroment). What if you go on a longer drive and the rain suddenly hits you?
We have hand car washes here. The remove the dust with hight pressure and than 4 indians with towels do the trick. No mashines. Plus I have way too much free time to spend it with a car wash knowing that the car will be dusty in another 30 minutes anyway. Black car in Dubai sucks big time.

My TS hood is authentic and comes w/ Carbon Fiber duct covers that go underneath each vent with 2 screws. These covers route the water outside the engine bay.. Takews about 30-45 seconds to install them under a bridge or in a gas station if I get stuck in the rain. Honestly, my biggest fear is of water pouring on my intake which is directly underneath the other vent on the driver side.

^ the fake one comes with those covers too and it is a valid point that you can put them on any time. If I would run an InlinePro kit and keep the original filter location, I guess it would rain straigh on the filter what is not the best thing.
Are you designing any sort of air box to protect the intake on the GT1 mani?
