Power potential with this turbo kit?
Hey guys, as title says, Im looking to do a good conservative street build on 91 octane gas with NO meth or tricks. Just a reliable powerful street build with no heat issues or other problems... I want MINIMUM 400RWHP
so the parts list looks like this:
stage 1 inline pro turbo kit - precision 5857 turbo with front mount IC, log style manifold, 3" down pipe, Precision pw39 waste gate, greddy RZ BOV
68mm throttle body with port matched intake manifold
T1R 70mm exhaust
70mm test pipe (still have to buy)
with supporting mods:
Aem fuel rail,
ID1000 injectors (still have to buy)
AEM 1052 ECU with Truboost gauge, and wideband sensor
AEM serial gauge (still have to buy),
walbro 255 fuel pump
Act Pressure plate
Act street disc (still have to buy)
3mm IP head gasket and ARP head studs
So really I have 3 questions:
1- I spoke with a very helpful gent at Inline Pro and he mentioned i should have a thicker head gasket to lower head temps when pushing above 11psi. And their 3mm head gasket is the best so I decided on that. I know there is a lot of guys who dont like to lower compression. why is that?
2-what kind of power can I expect to make and what PSI level would you guys recommend I do - max boost tune at vs the street boost level?
3-any recommended mods or lower cost alterations to this build you would recommend?
lastly, this will be getting tuned professionally on a dyno probably by the guru at ultimate racing

The 5857 is a very good choice for what your looking for, 400whp should be easy with no problems as long as you stay away from the 3mm headgasket. 400whp is fine for 91oct with a good tune and OEM headgasket. The 3mm is asking for problems in my opinion. If you wanted to get into a ball bearing turbo (not sure if you want journal bearing or ball bearing) the new GTX3076R would be a fantastic choice which can be had fairly cheap from http://cheapturbo.com/store/index.ph...product_id=126. Another good choice would be a borg warner S200SX 75-70 or S300SX 83-75, all these turbos will give you alittle more room to grow as the boost addiction sets in and leaves you wanting more and more power!

Precision no longer makes the 5857. It's now the 5858. Make sure to get a discount if you're getting the old one..
You just gotta know what you want. That's a great turbo if you want fast spool and <500whp on a log.

ok cool thx guys... what about head temp concerns with the OEM block... i mean people can and have made 700 hp on stock blocks, but is that 100% reliable? Im really hoping to not put more money in the car for a while.... wanna buy a condo soon

It seems like a lot of the people that run a 3mm headgasket blow the headgasket between 10-20k miles. You should be fine running less than 15 psi with oem studs / oem headgasket. If you want lower compression than do it right- put in lower compression pistons.

As stated multiple times, don't use the 3mm head gasket. It is beyond me why Inline is still pushing them as it seems all of them fail in due time.
