My intake temps are quite good without the AC, I've NEVER had any detonation issues, I have no desire to bump up the boost, and the AC is only superior when you go above the stock boost or pulling several hard runs continuously (sp?).

The only reason vortech put in a AC was to make it different than the comptech kit and because it ran at 7psi vs comptechs 5psi. Comptech ran their kit for a LONG time before adding an AC, which they only did to match Vortech for marketing reasons. People like you made an assumption that the AC made it better, so comptech added it to make you happy.

The only good reason to buy the AC is so you can add more boost. With the comptech unit, as long as your fuel ratio is correct and your spark plugs aren't junk your fine. And if your fuel ratio is messed up, the AC isn't going to help you.

But nice chatting with you though.

Hmm...so you'd never be interested in a greater margin of safety, lower intake temperatures or interested in driving your car in boost for any extended period of time (such as around a track)?

The graphs are a little confusing on the comptech site...

This one http://www.comptechusa.com/store/media/dyn...upercharger.pdf seems to show a non AC car prroducing 98hp and 58 tq more
*All Horsepower Figures* *Measured "At the Wheels"*

This http://www.comptechusa.com/store/media/dyno/S2KDyno.pdf seems to show a 2004 car with AC producing 73hp and 48tq

Finally this one http://www.comptechusa.com/store/med...2K0304Dyno.pdf shows that a 04 car produces more than an 03 car but it is not clear if the difference is the car (I assume not as the engine has not changed) or the supercharger its self!

I think I want to go comptech without ac and probably a wideband as you suggested DBM.

Then if I want more power I have the option of AC -> smaller pulley -> finally propper engine managment...

When you say there are two for sale in the UK do you mean Vortech SC's?

Yep I meant Vortech for sale.

I wouldnt get too hung up on the figures tbh, and sounds like the route you are going is sensible.

In the US the 04 car is a 2.2l with a lower redline, so the S/C had to be re-geared to maxe max flow / pressure at a lower rpm - so that may explain some variance.

Running around a track is low on my list of things to do, so not really a problem.

What is this margin of safety BS? If your a/f is correct, you aren't going to have problems that an A/C can fix. You bought into hype and marketing bud.

I don't knock people for buying the A/C, but I'll slap around anyone who says you HAVE to have it. You don't, its not necessary.

I'm done with you, I'm not going keep dragging this off topic.
************************************************** *******************

Last year I dyno'd at 275hp, don't remember the torque. Sooner or later I'll get it done again, I found a bad spark plug coil a few months after the dyno. I'll probably wait until I get a new clutch though. Mine is still strong, but I've read about too many people frying their clutch during a dyno pull and I REALLY don't want to be one of them . My clutch has 42k miles on it, 15k + sc'rd and I don't want to push my luck.

Instead of the A/C, I'd recommend getting either the 4.44 diff gears, or 4.57's. They'll give you a bigger bang for your buck over the A/C... Unless you want to up the boost.

wingnut, if you fancy a drive into the country I'll be at this Honda meet https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=411007
at the end of the month, your more than welcome to have a passenger ride in mine.

I'll have to pm this other guy who wanted to meet and see mine, quite a few lurking owners now looking to supercharge.

with the comptech s/c kit (a/c as well) what else is needed other than a set of colder plugs to get the car safley running that IS NOT supplied in the kit. Im going to order my S/C next week and will at least for now be running the stock pulley. if i dont want to get the AEM ems (for $$ reasons) should i get an Emanage instead, or just use the stock ecu untill i can afford the ems(is that safe?) any other input of whats needed would be a big help. thanks
