preloading with the ebrake
i want to know the advantage over just slipping the clutch.while your waiting for the lights to drop your holding the clutch just enough so the car doesnt leave but arent you burning the clutch doing that?
Either way your burning the clutch. I would think slipping it under full power does quite a bit more harm than letting it drag a little before the launch. What do I know though, I just tried launching the shit out of it and broke an axle.
Correct.
The higher the RPM you slip it at while at a complete stop the worse the damage, you can glaze your clutch causing long term damage to it by doing this.
If you must slip it do so in a short and sweet manner at as low of an rpm and as high of engagement pressure as possible since that equates to the shortest time and least slippage revolutions.
Is this being done to get the turbo to spool? You can accomplish this this the clutch fully depressed to a great degree, unless you're doing serious drag racing, just drive the car and don't burn up clutches in this manner. If you need more power turn the boost up rather than destroy clutches needlessly..
I use a 2step rev limiter to assist with a launch in some cases it allows me to be lazy and launch more consistently.

YUP!. I read quite a lot about pre-loading, and after a season of doing this, guys showed minimal wear, or no greater wear than usual.
Best 60' to date is 1.9 and I think I brought the revs up to maybe 4,500, 5000rpms.......

Well certainly SOME greater wear, I mean it's grinding so there's going to be some wear but as long as you don't sit forever like a moron and let it just grind like hell then you're fine. I do it on rare occasion. I'm not much into drag racing or anything myself so it's not a big thing for me.
