550whp is IMO too much to ask from the stock block and expect any kind of longevity. You MAY get lucky and run it for a while but very likely you'll end up with some POSSIBLE major issues.

I know some people on here will say NO WAY!!! 550whp is JUST FINE on a stock block but.... I was making 360whp and guess what.... I just lost cylinder #3 Now it may have been for a number of reasons, which soon I'll post but in any case MANY on here have had major issues running past 450whp on a bone stock block.

Now it looks by your list of parts that your right on track and not cutting corners, with that said I'd suggest you visit http://www.laskeyracing.com/shop/s2000.htm and do as I'm about to do and spend $3550 on a fully built motor rated for 600whp+. THIS rating is only 50whp more then your talking about already and that's a fully built block. THAT alone should tell you that your asking too much from a stock unit by a long shot. PERSONALLY I believe 400whp is the limit for something that is to be Daily driven or at least driven often and depended on in ANY way.

ALSO if you spend the $3550 and do it right you don't need to run a thick head gasket which can bring it's own problems on. The ARP studs were NOT designed to be used with a thicker head gasket you can search a number of issues on here relating to that, as a result some people have had issues with the ARP studs and opted to go with OEM studs instead (new OEM of course not reusing) as a result of these failures. PERSONALLY I fully trust ARP but since the design didn't include the 2/3mm head gaskets we commonly use they CANT be put to blame. The other issue is that section of the cylinder ends up not being made of cylinder wall but rather gasket which can bring it's own smaller problem on. Laskey will build the block to whatever compression ratio you desire of course with your turbo boost isn't an issue so I'd go with the typical ratio of 8.5:1 or 9:1 if you want a TINY increase id drive ability. The 3mm gasket takes us to... nearly 9:1 if I'm not mistaken. IN ANY CASE... your turbo can support a lot of power, I'd make use of it otherwise you will be suffering from lag and not enjoying the potential high boost.

IDK.... just some thoughts

-Greg

(oh and the motor MIGHT last as long as you want.... or you might blow a rod through the side of the block one day and WISH you could use the core to get the $3550 price but instead pay over $5000 since you don't have a stock block to trade. Risk Involved there obviously)

Thanks man! phew i just woke up to the thread being 2 pages long.. so in any event lets start here.

- The turbo i have will spool around 5700-6000. im not going to be doing 1st gear pulls with this gear so im not too worried about lag. The RPM landing point of every gear after that is after 6000, why would honda want the torque multiplication from gearing land before a key power point in the engine? therefore i am not worried about lag in anyway. theres always brake boost to get that puppy spinning if i have any worries.

-This is not my DD. its more of a, well i have extra money so lets waste it on the car and whatever happens happens. Ill probably take it out on nice weekends thats about it. im content with my automatic g2 integra.

-e85 is a big possibility in the near future, there are a few stations around where i work to fill up with some of it. yes, i know i dont have the right size injectors and such. but just to throw that out there.

-If i dont hit 550whp with this setup, im not gonna go bannanas and throw a fit about it. Cars around here would get roasted by this thing with 350whp. If i really wanted to i could have made the goals say 400-500whp but thats just being a toolbag.

-If the stock block blows, so be it, its not like f20c blocks are a rediculous amount of green aside from the b series , k series etc. this build is all in alot of fun. which im sure it will be.

-Thanks for all the constructive critisicm and support!

i dont think you'll make 550whp on pump gas, but you'll definitely make it on race gas
