Question regarding wastegate spring pressure
Sorry for the long rambling of text.. maybe someone can help me out
first let me point out my car is NOT an S2000 but i prefer to ask the question Here lol.
My car is currently tuned for 30psi. we kind of have it manipulated so that it is around 27psi until about 6500-7000 rpms and then it creeps to 30psi after that. I am hitting my full 27psi before 5500 so i know i can make my full 30psi before then. obv it doesnt take 1500 rpms to build 3 more lbs of boost
When i boost leak tested my car i adjusted the boost controller (hallman MBC) and it read about 12psi on my boost gauge. While we were tuning we did a WOT pull and we were at 30psi .So does this mean that my wastegate spring is 18psi? I've really never paid attention to what psi my wastegate opens because im usually more focused on driving
Do i need a stiffer spring in my wastegate so i can control the boost better so i am at 30psi from 5500rpms until redline? When we did the initial WOT pull it hit boost cut when it creeped which was 33psi i believe.
obviously a full clean 30psi would make my car a lot faster. But would a stiffer spring also slight help spool ?
EDIT: it is a 44mm tial

U want to run the biggest wategate spring possible with out going over your idel boost. A boost controlly delays the boost sourch to the wategate in general it's hard to delay the pressure once your over double the wastegate spring pressure. You want the spring in your wastegate to be bigger than half you maximum boost. Since you want to run 30psi you should have at least a 15psi spring if not bigger.
ok yea that must be the problem then is i am over that. it was fine when i was on 25psi but now that i bumped it up it cant hold the boost.
i'll have to open it up and see what spring i have. i'll probably have to add another small spring then
the ricer in me wants to just order new tial stuff so it matches the rest of my engine bay Lol
