Question for turbo owners...
I'm just curious if anyone has been pulled over and asked to see whats under the hood and if so, what were the officers actions. Thinking of going turbo but I live California and wonder what other owners have had to go through with a turbo under the hood.
Thanks
Thanks
^If you have a front mount they might wonder what else you have under the hood that is not street legal. I'm not sure if that happens a lot but I was pulled over in my rx7 and was asked to open my hood. The officer did not issue me a ticket but he told me he could have my car towed for having non carb legal parts. Just wondering if anyone here has had problems dealing with this. Also, I'm curious what turbo'd S owners have experienced.
if they pull you over for anything and think that you have something under the hood. they will ask for you to pop it. if they know what you have under there that is illegal, than they will give you a fix it ticket for it. if they know its not stock and not really sure. they will just give you a ticket to go to state reff. or atleast thats how its been around bay area. thats also a reason why i went vortech before, so i wouldnt have to deal with all that bs, and even if you had upgraded pulley aem injectors, they wont know. they just see the carb sticker
LOL.......my wastegate is really loud... this cop pulled my over and asked to see under the hood because it sounded faster than his z06..... he said that turbo honda's amaze him.......but thats onlt thing that has happened to me!
I got pulled over the other day. The car was giving me problems so I got on it a bit on the open road after work at 730 am saturday morning... A cop heard the exhaust from another block and turned out to get me.
He looked at my registration, then he stared at the front of my car, I'm sure he noticed the intercooler... but there's nothing illegal about an intercooler. If he doesn't know what cars are turbo'd or not... Long story short, he let me go with a warning and didn't ask to look under the hood eventhough I think he wanted to.

Sometimes I feel sorry for you Cali guys... but then I remember that you get pretty nice weather all your round while I cook in 95deg heat...
do they have the right to search under your hood without a warrant? I know they have to have one for any other kind of search...so why not just tell them no, you need a warrant (now of course if tehy arrest you, then they can check...but i doubt a cop will go that far...)
