Rear End Options
I was looking at the differential options for the S2000, and was hoping for something a bit cheaper. (Fat chance I know). This would be for an S2000 road race car with lets say 400ft-lbs of torque at the wheels.
From what I can tell the Inline kit is about 3k. This includes the axles and hubs. Since we have issues breaking hubs roadracing, this is a plus. When you add the R200 diff though, it only has a viscous lsd, which is not going to cut it. Add a Kaaz and new bearings an your up to $1600 in the diff pretty quick. That makes it a $4600 solution, which seems a bit ridiculous for a car that will not be drag launched.
Any other ideas? I'm toying with buying an RX7 FD diff with the torsen already in it. Then custom fabbing a new set of hubs, axles, and a driveshaft. I'm pretty sure I can do it cheaper, but it would be much easier to buy a solution.

Yea, but from his keyboard
The rear is a build mainly amid at saving a guy a big expense on having to replace a broke diff unexpectedly. It is not really meant for an upgrade for track or hard use.
It is just a better than average replacement smile.gif
Pretty sure it will not hold 400RWTQ

I'm thinking something like this.
2003-2004 Ford Mustang Cobra 8.8 - You can pick these up with an LSD for $350-400 Fab the install myself. Have Tig, will travel.
Then use the Driveshaft shop hubs, axles, and driveshaft. I'm guessing they can make the axles to fit the Cobra diff.
Should be even stronger, and would save $2500.

Bill,
400 lbs of Tq is ~640hp? Are you really shooting for that much power on a road race car? Not saying it can't be done, just wondering what your motivation is.
Either a non-F2XC engine or a nice turbo, but there will be more to contend with than just the diff...

I sent you a PM on a stronger build. Please let me know if I can be of any help
I am a Sponsor but, do not advertise what I do other than in my local forum with a small F/S thread.
I only build to order one at a time.

i recon it will, mine is currently at 601 whp and 380 wtq, and going for more when my new engine is in
If he's planning on doing anything like what the picture is showing in his avatar, the stock diff is going to take a crap REAL fast
