Hate to bump an older thread but like the op I am looking for a high hp rear end solution thats a cheaper/perhaps stronger alternative to the inline pro rear.
Does anyoned have any experience with the casper fabrications 8-3/4 rear offered by laskey?

http://www.laskeyracing.com/shop/axles.htm

Any info as to who has done the Ford 8.8 conversion?

I talked to Kasper. They only do the Chrysler 8 3/4 rear end. The only differential offered is a torsen type, so if you are road racing it's not ideal due to inside wheel lift issues. Gear ratios are completely open. They are using a 33 spline rear end which should be bulletproof. The lack of a Kaaz style clutch plate rear ends was a bummer for me.

Pricing was more the the Inline kit with a Kaaz and all new bearings as well. Everything was new including the housing though - no used parts. Seems line the Inline kit was a better value - ouch.

I have nothing to do with Kasper just information here. I couldn't find anyone who had done the Ford 8.8 rear end. I think this might be vaporware.

Bill,
Did you end up going with a particular setup or are you still trying to find a better solution?

Well, I was thinking of somehow fitting a ford 7.5 in my S. I bought it already and I compared to the stock diff. It is a little taller than the stock diff, so it would not hit the bottom of the trunk. Pinion offsets are pretty much identical, give or take a few mm. The only thing is that it is wider and longer. If the V8 miata ppl can fit this in their car, I am sure I can fit it as well. The 7.5 has been used sucessfully in that application. Have not researched aftermarket LSDs for this. Honestly, it is a quite ambitios project, and I feel I could pull it off if I had the proper funds. If someone could put this together, it would be amazing.
