Default Rebuild Strategy

S2Ki Community,

I am approaching the start of a rebuild in these nearing days. I'm rebuilding with:

Freshly honed block OS 0.25mm
New Pistons OS 0.25mm
New Rings OS 0.25mm
New Bearings (Same color code as before)
New Thrust Bearings
New Head Gasket
New Clutch (SOS Sport)
New Flywheel
New Headbolts (maybe?)

Can anyone advise me on some pit falls to avoid?

I'm going use hondabond on the oil pan and various other locations per the manual. Gonna apply moly lube to the bearings and prime the pump before starting. But, for those of you who have experience with this engine? Any warnings or advice? (P.S. Engine and trans are going in together and head is going on afterwards.

This is a 9psi Comptech setup with AC. I'm goign to later add the 3" pulley and meth injection with a lowered redline.

why rebuild?? 9psi on a stock motor is nothing to worry about. If you lower your redline you won't hit full boost. that is how Centrifugal Superchargers work, as the RPM's go up so does boost

I would do lower compression pistons, OEM headgasket, and ARP head studs. For the lower compression pistons I would just have the OEM pistons machined down. Then you have a lower compression ratio and can run more boost with safety.

Yeah. Unfortunately, rebuilding was necessary. I had some pre-ignition/detonation that ate up the pistons and scored the cylinder wall.

I did decide to keep the compression at 11:1 and use OS OEM pistons. I'm moving toward the 3.0 or 3.2" pulley with meth injection. I may eventually upgrade the blower for more boost and think about a thicker HG (lol, I hope it'll work with OS pistons). One question that has arisen is whether or not I need to have the rotating assembly balanced before I start bolting on things. I'm not sure if the components themselves are weight balanced enough to not worry about it.
