Come on joey I warned you also lol. Its so painful to lose a motor and turbo because of $400 valves.

oh, this is new to me. so is there a set powerlevel that the stock valves, guides, retainers give up on? i coulda sworn you can do 500-600 consistently on them.
I would say anything over 600whp, and you are on borrowed time with the stock stuff. At least from my experiences.

Well, I've never run stock springs and retainers, I was referring to the valves.

Great info Thanks!! yup that link is what got me looking at Inconel valves,
I'll probably do the nitride intake inconel exhaust combo both in dish. I was just researching the strength properties of inconel.. I love exotic metals.

For turbo applications I have also read of people going with slighty bigger set of valve +.5mm on the EXH side with success. Any thoughts of this? I remember long ago reading that FI cams always came with a more aggressive exhaust profile, which makes some sense of this, but valve size and cam lobe almost do the same but is also somewhat different.
I thought the same thing but with the extra cost there was no justification for the minimal gains. I spoke to just about every tuner and builder on the map and they all agreed so I decided to forget it. Just like a the 3 angle valve job if you were NA and wanting every last drop of power then yes that might be an option.

My head is getting built as we speak and I went with supertech dish inconel ex valves, nitrate dish in valves, dual valve springs, ti retainers, spring seat locators, 3 angle valve job, valve lapping, head decked, checked for cracks, bead blasted, hot tanked and assembled with new seals and its all only running $850. I only have 13k miles on the car and head so the guides were fine and the builder said the newer honda guides were pretty good.

Thanks. I just wanted him to see what he can get a good build for. I believe its very necessary if you plan on going over 500 whp and want it to live for a long time. Mike Laskey at Laskey Racing is where you can get all the build parts for at s great price. I got all I listed here from him for $675 and he is awesome to do business with.
