So after 14psi (and a lower 9:1 or 10:1 CR) the only other way to get power is head work I assume?

Cams, valves, springs, retainers and a port and polish?
This would allow more revs and greater efficiency?

^ not necessarily the only way -a freer flowing exhaust system - think decat pipe and larger tubing should net you some power as well.

Currently : Stock header, Berk Tech de-cat, J's racing single exit.

It's now a look at the 2.3 vs 2.0. If the block is worn I'll not get the choice. Otherwise I'll have to look at the cost diff.

since i hope you dont have a burning hole in your pocket for cash i suggest you get 10.5 pistons, for safety, sleeve the block,do a head job if you can afford it,keep the OEM header and push the CTSC at 14psi(max sc out at rated) with a 3.25 pulley and buy a gatoback 380 belt..you will need 750 or 650 cc injectors and an AEM .. thats it,cheapest way..

if you need aditional help mail me at stefce@hotmail.com and i can help with something since i was going trought the same thing as you are now so...
and yes you will have one wild, loud son of b..... on your hands and i suggest 255 tires since traction is a bitch..at 225 now and not enough.

Cheers

Cheers stena ,

That's what I was hoping to hear . I think if I get 10:1 pistons, I'll be ~ 10.5:1 due to the thinner headgasket.

Already have 750cc RC's running on the AEM. And 245 Toyo T1R's

Just spoken to an engine builder, and he's inspiring confidence with his knowledge (mainly K20's in Elises).

Now it's pull the engine, and take it to them.

Well.
I had an No4 cylinder failure and i didnt know why and i think it was piston overheating and skirt hitting the wall and scaring it and after that its Diesel power...i didnt get oil burn or compression lost but it was gone..
i would say 10.5 so you get most of the power... 9 or less is for turbo where you get boost low down and ....get the head job...OEM HG. is ok..-best
If you need any more help mail me i was doing the same as you and there arent much info specific just bits and pieces and you have to do the research and also there are many different opinions...
if you plan on staying SC and maybe sell the car in future its best 10.5..cr if you ask me..
and yes you need to tune the car...
thats the hard part for me since no tuner here and help is hard to get by,i get some help from Mase but i can not get in touch with him most of the time since he says has a lot of work and i understand...
